Make sure you follow the following STEPS in the order shown below and you will Learn How To
Program the YAESU FT-60R Amateur Radio.

GENERAL PROGRAM INFORMATION
If you find yourself in the "Memory" mode instead of the "VFO" mode?
You will need to return to the "VFO" Mode. You must be in the VFO mode to enter a direct
frequency. The "VFO" Mode is defined as the normal mode of operation and you must be in this
mode to program your radio.

STEP 1.
GO INTO THE VFO MODE
* Press (V/M) key to toggle in between the VFO and Memory mode.
If you are in the Memory mode you will typically see a memory number in the top left portion of the
screen. When in the VFO mode you will not see a memory number.

STEP 2.
TO SELECT YOUR DESIRED FREQUENCY
* Enter the Receive Frequency you want to store from the keypad by pressing the numeric keys (0)
to (9). For example: 145.390, then you would just press the keys 145390. You do not need to put in
the (.Dot). This will also be the Frequency you want to listen to or the Repeater Frequency.

STEP 3.
TO SELECT YOUR OFFSET FREQUENCY DIRECTION
* Press the (F/W) Key
* Press the (88(0) SET) key to enter the Set Mode. This is the 2nd key from the left, on the bottom
row of keys.
* Rotate the DIAL Knob to select Set Mode ITEM 38: RPT.MOD
* Press the (F/W) key momentarily to enable adjustment of this ITEM.
* Rotate the DIAL Knob to select your required offset frequency direction.
The choices are: "RPT,-" or "RPT,+" and "RPT,OFF".  If you select the "RPT,OFF feature your radio
will transmit and receive on the same frequency, also known as "Simplex" operation.
* When you have made your selection press the PTT (Push To Talk) button to save your setting and
return to the normal operation mode (VFO mode remember, from above).

FYI: The repeater default Offset Frequencies will be + or - 600 kHz for the 144 MHz Band. On the
440MHz Band the default offsts can be 1.6MHz, 7.6 MHz or 5 MHz (USA version).
NOTE: Your Yaesu FT-60R originally is configured automatically by default for the Repeater shifts
customary for your country. This is called the ARO, meaning (Automatic Repeater Offset). However
if it has been changed from it's original default setting of being turned ON, you will need to turn it
back ON or re-enable it.  We will explain how to do this lower down in this Tutorial. For now do not
concern yourself with it.

STEP 4. TO ACTIVATE THE PL TONE FUNCTION (CTCSS)
* Press the (F/W) Key.
* Press the (1(SQ.TYP) Key.
* Rotate the DIAL Knob so that the "TONE" indication appears on the LCD Display.
* Pree the PTT Button to save your setting and return you to the normal operation mode (VFO
mode).

STEP 5. TO SELECT THE TONE FREQUENCY - PL TONE
* Press the (F/W) Key.
* Press the (2(CODE) Key.
* Rotate the DIAL Knob until the LCD Display indicates the PL Tone Frequency you want to use,
e.g. 100.0 or 88.5 HZ etc.
* When you have made your Tone Frequency selection Press the (F/W) Key to save your setting
and return you to the normal operation mode (VFO mode).

STEP 6.
STORING YOUR DATA ABOVE INTO MEMORY
* Press the (F/W) Key for (1) second give or take a few.
* Now within (10) Seconds make a decision regarding which channel number you want to store all
the above data. You will notice a channel number appear on the right side of the LCD Display. Your
Radio will usually automatically select the next highest clear memory number. If their is a flashing
arrow under the memory number it means the channel number already has data stored in it. If their
is no flashing arrow under the memory number it means you can use it to store your new data into
the memory number shown, so continue on.
* Press the (F/W) Key to save and store your new data into that memory number.
* Now Press the PTT button to go back to the VFO Mode and you can continue to program more
frequencies following the Steps above again.
* Now continue the above steps again to program more frequencies and Learn How To Program
The Yaesu FT-60R. The more you do it, the easier you will learn how to do it.* Now continue the
