GENERAL INFORMATION
If you find yourself in the "Memory" mode instead of the "VFO" mode?
You will need to return to the "VFO" Mode. You must be in the VFO mode to enter a direct
frequency.

TO GO INTO THE VFO MODE
* Press (VFO)
* Press (#)
* Enter the Receive Frequency you want to store from the keypad by pressing the numeric keys (0)
to (9). For example: 145.390, then you would just press the keys 145390. You do not need to put in
the (.Dot). This will also be the Frequency you want to listen to or the Repeater Frequency. This will
be saved in STEP 5 shown below.

STEP 1. TO SELECT THE OFFSET FREQUENCY DIRECTION
* Press "MENU".
* Turn the tuning control to Menu No 6 (SFT).
* Press "MENU".
* Turn the tuning control to select + - or RPT OFF.

* Press "MENU" to store the setting or PTT to cancel.

NOTE: The standard default offset frequency direction is + or - 600 kHz.

STEP 2. TO SELECT AN OFFSET FREQUENCY (OR NOT)
NOTE: Only use the following directions in (STEP 2) if you are going to program an odd split
frequency pair, different than the + - 600 kHz shown in Step 1 above. If you are going to use the
standard (OFFSET) shown in STEP-1 then ignore STEP 2 completely and go to STEP 3.
* Turn the tuning control to Menu No 8 (OFFSET).
* Press "MENU".
* Turn the tuning control to select the offset frequency. The selectable range is from 0.000 MHz to
69.950 MHz in steps of 50 kHz.
* Press "MENU" to store the setting or PTT to cancel.
* Press any Number Key, this saves your data so far.

STEP 3. TO ACTIVATE THE TONE FUNCTION
* Press "MENU".
* Turn the tuning control to select Menu No 2 (T.CT.DCS).

STEP 4. TO SELECT THE TONE FREQUENCY - PL TONE

requires to open it up.  EG: 100 or 88.5. etc.
* Press "MENU" to store the setting or PTT to cancel.
* Press any Number Key, this saves your data so far.

STEP 5. NOW YOU WILL STORE ALL YOUR INFORMATION into Memory
* Press " F" then release and press "MR". If you do not see a memory channel appear blinking
on the display the probable cause is you are not holding the "MR" button down long enough.
* Turn the tuning control to select your desired memory number.
If an arrow blinks under the memory number, select another number because this means it is
already assigned to another frequency.  Use the tuning control to select another number.
* When you have a good memory number, press "MR" to store the data into your memory number.
* Now continue the above steps again to program more frequencies and Learn How To Program

If you want to upgrade to a computer software program we would recommend the one below. We have no relationship
with this company but we have tried the software and find it very simple and easy to use. So just FYI here it is.

Handling multiple memory channels and memory names is easy from a PC (requires optional PG-4Y interface cable and
free MCP-1A software). This is also convenient for copying settings to another transceiver.
